Chapel Hill Community Meeting Minutes

Residents of DeSoto and the other southern suburbs of Dallas were not exceptions to the cases found throughout Dallas county. Some people in DeSoto, perhaps even someone you know fell ill with West Nile Virus last year.

Highland Park, Lewisville, Richardson, Farmer’s Branch, and perhaps more municipalities are already spraying for mosquitoes.

Although it’s been a year, people are still recovering from illness, and this week, Dallas County confirmed the 20th death from West Nile Virus. Read the press release.

The HOA board will be meeting on May 6^th to discuss the concerns that were presented during Saturday’s meeting, and we will decide on a tentative schedule for the remainder of the year. Please check the website next week for meeting minutes.

Community Meeting Information

We apologize for the delayed response. This is the first time we have had to deal with graffiti on homes and the entrance walls. We thought that the City of DeSoto would be able to remove the graffiti within a weeks time, however, we learned that there is a volunteer group that actually cleans the graffiti, and they work when available.

Because of this, we have decided to hire a graffiti abatement company to remove the graffiti, and in the case that future incidents arise, we will call upon the same company to remove the graffiti within 24 hours.

If you notice any suspicious activity in the neighborhood, or see any vandalism on property, please notify the police and us.

We received a question about graffiti on fences and police driving around the neighborhood.

If you see graffiti, it should be reported to code enforcement, or call the DeSoto Action Center at 972-274-2489. It shouldn’t take more than a week to get the graffiti cleaned.

Police officers regularly patrol neighborhoods in DeSoto, and there is also a Citizens on Patrol group. This does not mean that there is problem, just general surveillance. If there are increased concerns in a neighborhood, we can request more police presence.

Please, do not hesitate to contact us about your concerns, or to contact code enforcement or the action center. The code enforcement website has an online submission form to make things easy.

Tall grass, downed fences, dead trees, abandoned vehicles, etc, can all be reported to code enforcement.

This form addresses other concerns, such as lights being on during the day, leaning or damaged poles, exposed or loose wires, or flickering lights.
