The Chapel Hill Board is seeking new engagement from you this summer. We are looking for a volunteer to serve as the HOA President on the board. We are also in need of volunteers to serve as block captains and on the neighborhood beautification committee.
Block Captains can help notify the board of resident concerns, ideas, and new neighbors moving into Chapel Hill. We would like to start awarding homes with “Yard of the Month” this summer, and will need volunteers to help make selections for voting. Another idea for the beautification committee is to get volunteers to work with the block captains and do litter clean ups.

For those who were unable to attend, Liberty and All P&P were present to explain how they can be of service to the residents of DeSoto, and especially the residents of the Chapel Hill community.
Liberty Mutual, in partnership with the DeSoto Chamber of Commerce is getting more involved with HOAs in DeSoto to bring information, services, and financial benefits to the residents of DeSoto. By now, most of you should have received a postcard in the mail regarding our quarterly community meeting. Please join us on SAturday, April 9th at 11 am to hear updates about your HOA, ask questions about changes to our operations, learn about what the HOA’s roles and responsibilities are, etc.
The meeting will be at Metro Southwind Fellowship Church on Belt Line Rd (across from our community’s entrance on Belt Line Rd) Meetings typically last only an hour, so please take time this weekend to attend.
This may sound cliché, but you have heard it before. If you see something, say something. You’ve seen it at airports, on DART buses, and other public or government facilities. The same goes for our neighborhood.
Please keep in mind that the HOA is only as powerful as the residents in the neighborhood. Our community has over 200 homes, and the board members cannot possibly know what occurs in our neighborhood without communications from the residents. This is why we highly encourage you to volunteer to serve as a block captain.
It has been brought to the Board’s attention that the vacant property, 141 Galleria, has had teenagers trespassing on the unlocked property. This type of offense is a crime and should be reported to DeSoto Police. If you notice any suspicious activity in the neighborhood, please notify the DeSoto Police Department.

We are in need of residents to be a part of our HOA committees. These committees help to better serve our community. We have solicited volunteers before, but we are in need of volunteers who truly want to better our community and dedicate a few hours per month.
We would like to have at least 10 block captains-one or two representatives per block in our neighborhood. Block captains would be responsible to notify HOA of new residents to their block, assist with distributing HOA fliers, etc.

We would also like to have volunteers for our beautification committee. Ideas for this committee are not limited to the suggestions below:
- Nominations for yard of the month during spring and summer
- Nominations for best holiday decorations
- Periodic neighborhood litter clean up
- Mindful eye on neighborhood to report code violations to DeSoto Code Department

We would like to inform you that the HOA board will be holding our quarterly community meeting on January 23rd at the Metro Southwinds Fellowship Church at 11 am.
The community meetings are a great way to hear directly from the board about what has been going on in the neighborhood, voice concerns, share news that may be beneficial to your neighbors, and of course hear how your HOA dues are spent.

We would like to inform you that the HOA has been approached by the Garrett Moore Company to discuss a proposed development across the street from our community. There is vacant land at the corner of Elerson and Belt Line. If you are leaving our neighborhood and going toward the high school on Elerson, the proposed development will be on the right. Below you will see the site plan. The HOA board is scheduled to meet with the development company in February.
The plan consists of apartment complexes (one to three bedrooms) and retail.

Our latest financial report is available. Please look at it to understand what your dues go towards. Often, there are unforeseen expenses, such as an expense not reported as yet on this report to repair the sprinkler system. A break caused our water bill to be just shy of $200. Many of you may not even have a water bill that high for your household.
Our funds are diminishing. We would hate to have the neighborhood look in disrepair because we cannot afford to pay the basic necessities such as lighting the entryway, and watering and cutting the grass.
